‘Godfather Part III’ and ‘Species’ actor Anthony Guidera passes away
Anthony Guidera dies at age 65 after weeks on life support
American actor Anthony Guidera has died at the age of 65, his wife, Valarie, confirmed.
Guidera reportedly passed away on June 6 after spending several weeks in hospital on life support. His wife confirmed that the actor had been in critical condition since collapsing at their Southern California home on May 11.
No official cause of death has been revealed. Valarie reportedly said doctors were unable to determine what caused the collapse.
Guidera made his film debut in The Godfather Part III in 1990, where he played a character named Anthony. He later built a steady career in both film and television throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
Among his best-known movie appearances were roles in Armageddon and Species. His work in Species earned him shared recognition at the 1996 MTV Movie Awards, where he and co-star Natasha Henstridge won the award for Best Kiss. On television, Guidera also appeared in shows including Baywatch and Good News.
His final acting role came in the 2005 film LA Dicks, after which he stepped away from Hollywood. He later moved with his wife to California, where the couple became volunteers with the spiritual organisation Astara.
Following news of his death, Astara shared a tribute on Instagram referring to him as “Reverend Anthony.”
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Astara’s Reverend Anthony,” the statement read. “We are devastated and trying to breathe through the impossible taking each moment as it comes.”
