Last month, a claim surfaced regarding US tv show Today co-host Savannah Guthrie’s efforts to find her missing mother Nancy Guthrie by paying around $500,000 to private investigators.

In a recent development, these reports have been refuted by NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin who claimed that Savannah did not hire any private investigator to find clues regarding the abduction of her 84-year-old mother.

Speaking on Jesse Weber Live, Entin clarified, “There’s something I wanted to clear up. There was a report that Savannah Guthrie had hired private investigators—and I think the report said, like, spent $500,000 on private investigators, which I was always very skeptical of.”

“I’ve now confirmed that is not true. Savannah Guthrie did not hire private investigators, she did not spend $500,000 on private investigators.”

“It seems she still has confidence in the FBI and the local detectives who are investigating. . It is just the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI that are investigating this case right now,” he added.

Savannah shared an emotional update on Sunday on her Instagram, stating, “Oh my, my soul it cries out, soul, it cries out,” she wrote in white lettering overlain on religious artwork. “Bring her home.”

Entin also talked about the update and called this painful emotional experience what the Guthrie family is going through, citing, “Sometimes I also like to have a moment to remember that, you know, there’s a family hurting right now.”

Nancy Guthrie has been missing from her home Tucson, Arizona since February 1, 2026. Both the Pima County Sheriff Department and FBI have not been involved in the investigations for four months. No potential suspect has been named yet as the Guthrie family is looking for answers.

The Guthrie family is offering a $1 million reward for Nancy Guthrie’s return. The FBI is also offering a $100,000 reward and encouraging anyone with information to call the FBI.
