Katie Holmes breaks silence on reuniting ex Joshua Jackson

Katie Holmes opened up about reuniting with Joshua Jackson in Happy Hours.

The actress, writer and directo, who previously co-starred with Joshua, admitted to Variety that things are not exactly how it used to be for them. Katie said that their reunion came with a new perspective shaped by years of personal and professional growth.

She said, "We hadn't worked together in 25 years, and we've changed a lot."

Speaking about people's reaction to their reunion, Katie said, "To be honest, it was unexpected."

"I know we were on a show that a lot of people watched, but I guess we never fully realized the impact. It still kind of throws all of us," she added.

It is pertinent to mention that the duo, who famously dated in the early seasons of Dawnson's Creek, but have remained friendly since. As Katie wrote and directed the film, she admitted initially wondering whether Joshua would even be interested in joining the project.

However, Katie noted that while she and Joshua were keen to collaborate again, they wanted to make sure no one saw it as the reboot of Dawson's.

She said, "We also wanted to give ourselves the space to show different sides of ourselves and to not portray these people we're known for."

Furthermore, Katie Holmes shared that despite all these years she and Joshua Jackson were tune with each other on set.

"It's like a shorthand that we quickly realize still exists," she said.

Adding, "We've always done well working off one another. He directs me and I direct him without us even mentioning it."

Happy Hours is set to release on June 6.
