$725 million Facebook privacy settlement bonus payments announced—How much will you get?
Eligible recipients are now being notified to look out for a second payment starting on June 9
A second round of payments is set to roll out from the landmark Facebook $725 million Facebook user privacy settlement. A US District Court in California approved a second round of payments which are all set to roll out in batches over a four-week period starting June 9, 2026.
This second round is funded by $100 million left over from the first round because more than 200,000 physical checks went uncashed and 3 million digital payments expired.
Meanwhile, eligible participants will be notified via email or messages three to four days before their specific payment is issued.
Who is eligible?
The bonus payments are reportedly being issued to about 15.7 million people who successfully clear the initial funds. This means if you got a payout last fall and redeemed it, you can expect an additional payment in June.
It is pertinent to mention that the funds will be distributed via direct deposit, PayPal, Zelle and prepaid debit cards, depending entirely on the method you selected when you first submitted a claim.
This historic class-action lawsuit accused Facebook of invasion of privacy of users with third parties, crucially Cambridge Analytica- a firm that supported Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Many users on social media voiced frustration over the nominal fees, noting that over a decade’s worth of stolen data resulted in a payout amounting to less than the cost of a single gallon of gas for many people.
Additionally, anyone who is uncertain about their payment status should contact the settlement administrator.
