Kim Kardashian says 'God was intervening' after Tony Carruthers execution halted
Kim Kardashian expressed gratitude to people who called governor's office to get the execution halted
Kim Kardashian on Thursday took to Instagram to express relief after the execution of a death row prisoner was halted in Tennessee.
"God was intervening," she wrote on her Instagram Story while sharing the news of the inmate avoiding execution due to complications administering a lethal injection.
Tony Carruthers Carruthers was convicted in 1994 of the kidnapping and murder of three people in Memphis.
He had his execution stalled when medical staff failed to find a suitable vein.
After Tennessee Governor Bill Lee granted him a one-year reprieve, Kim Kardashian thanked people for taking the time to call the governor's office. "I truly believe the pressure from all of us helped," she wrote.
She called the failed procedure absolute torture and urged DNA and fingerprint testing of evidence she believes could prove Carruthers’ innocence.
