Princess Eugenie’s pregnancy announcement shows royal family’s backing

Royal family signaled support for Princess Eugenie with official pregnancy announcement on their social media, claimed an expert.

According to royal commentator Afua Acheampong-Hagan, the palace sent a message of unity and support as Eugenie’s pregnancy announcement carries more meaning than just happy news.

Speaking with The Mirror, the expert said this shows Eugenie is still very much in favour within the family and under their protection, especially during the early stages of pregnancy and amid ongoing attention around her parents, former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

She said, "I think it is interesting that, although there was a post on social media as well, that the official announcement came from Buckingham Palace.”

"I think this does mean she is clearly still in favour with the royal family. I think it also gives her a bit of protection at this time," the expert added.

"A delicate time, early pregnancy, but also that kind of umbrella gathering in of the royal family announcing signifies, 'She's still under our wing, she's under our protection, she's taken care of.'"

She went on to note that it is “kind of a bit of a 'Back off, we're protecting this girl, our granddaughter, our niece, at this delicate time, and that's why we're announcing.’”

Referring to the statement, Afua said, "I also think it's significant that they wrote at the end that the King is delighted.

"Again, it's that reiteration that she's been protected - that she's beloved by the royal family, that she's been taken under the wing of the King.

"I think all these things are quite significant. It was deliberately done in that way."
