Russell Brand reveals surprising reason behind split from Katy Perry

Russell Brand has finally revealed the real reason behind his separation from Katy Perry.

The 50-year-old actor recently appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show, where he opened up about his marriage to the pop sensation, which lasted from 2010 to 2012.

During the interview, Russell admitted that he "didn’t handle that marriage very well.”

The Pose star further said that the dissolution of their marriage was “my fault.”

“I pushed to get married early because I felt inadequate and insecure and like I wasn’t enough — and that if I was married to her, I would somehow be a better person and more important,” he confessed.

“And that put her under an unnecessary amount of pressure and strain," added the comedian.

Elsewhere in the interview, Russell also praised his ex-wife Katy, calling her “really lovely."

“She has an innocence, she’s a very beautiful person. She’s also incredibly driven and worked really, really hard," he said,

“Here’s me taking total responsibility for all the mistakes I made in that marriage,” the Bedtime Stories star . “I felt like I was inadequate and not enough on my own.”

For those unversed, Russell filed for divorce from Katy in December 2011, after 14 months of marriage. The divorce was officially finalized in July 2012.
