Demi Lovato explains 'essence' of upcoming tour and track she’s most eager to perform
Demi Lovato shares details on upcoming tour 'It’s Not That Deep' and setlist plans
Demi Lovato is preparing to return to touring for the first time in four years and has now treated fans to a preview of what to expect from her upcoming shows.
Lovato was at a NYC event, promoting her cookbook One Plate at a Time: Recipes for Finding Freedom with Food, when she spilled the details on her It’s Not That Deep tour, kicking off in April. “It's really amazing to be in this era right now,” the pop star told Eli Rallo at 92NY on March 17.
The singer described this phase of her career as “celebratory” and "fun," adding that this is also the very "essence" of her most recent album.
“I mean, that was really what the essence of the album was, was a reflection of where I'm at in my life today, which is I'm happier than ever, and I wanted my music to reflect that.”
While she admitted to feeling both excited and nervous about being back on the road, Lovato said she is looking forward to performing both the new material and earlier hits.
“I'm very, very, very excited and a little overwhelmed, a little nervous, but I'm very excited, and I can't wait to see everybody on the road. I can't wait to play music from It's Not That Deep, but also songs that you are all already familiar with," Lovato said.
The Grammy nominee also hinted at the possibility of debuting unreleased music during the tour. "And there's the potential to be playing even newer music."
Lovato also revealed that the songs she is most eager to perform live is Sorry to Myself, a track from her latest album It’s Not That Deep. “It kind of ties in with the messaging of this cookbook,” she explained.
“I went through so much, and I kind of put myself through hell for a long time, and I'm sorry to myself for that," the Camp Rock alum added. "But it's about taking charge and reclaiming the narrative.”
