Elon Musk’s chilling AI prediction: Is Singularity near?

In the rapidly advancing age of artificial intelligence, humanity cannot turn a blind eye to technological singularity.

It is no wonder, AI is evolving at breakneck speed, sparking the discussions revolving around “the moment of Singularity" dawning upon humans.

The tech billionaire, Elon Musk also weighed in the discussion and dropped a chilling prediction regarding singularity where AI would surpass human intelligence.

Taking to X, the CEO of SpaceX claimed, “We are in the beginning of the Singularity.”

“Just the very early stages of the singularity as we are currently using much less than a billionth of the power of our Sun.” the 54-year-old said.

This is not the first time the founder of xAI talked about Singularity.

Last month, Musk also took to X and posted, “We have entered the Singularity. 2026 is the year of the Singularity.”

Musk’s remarks have indicated a paradigm shift the world is going to witness in 2026.

Recently, the viral social platform, Moltbook, has taken the internet by storm, fuelling the speculations related to artificial general intelligence or singularity.

Known as Reddit-style agentic AI platform, where only artificial intelligences can post, comment, and vote; human users are strictly spectators.

The platform also offers a first-ever insight into how autonomous AI “citizens” interact at scale, creating communities, religion, and talking about human purge.

The concept dates back to the 1950s propagated by mathematician John von Neumann. Significantly, the idea was pushed into the mainstream by Ray Kurzweil in his 2005 book, The Singularity is Near.

Kurzweil said in an interview with The Guardian in 2024, “We’re going to be a combination of our natural intelligence and our cybernetic intelligence.”

“And it’s all going to be rolled into one. We are going to expand intelligence a millionfold by 2045, and it is going to deepen our awareness and consciousness,” he added.

Singularity is a long-standing concept which indicates a historic moment where AI would transcend human intelligence and begin improving itself.

Once that happens, the pace of innovation will boom uncontrollably, leading to unpredictable growth.
