Russell Brand slams courtroom sketch after rape and assault hearing

Russell Brand has spoken out against a courtroom sketch created after his recent court appearance related to rape and sexual assault charges. 

The actor and comedian appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on January 20 via video link from the United States, where he was granted bail.

According to the BBC, the brief hearing lasted around six minutes, during which Brand confirmed only his name and date of birth. Shortly afterward, the 50-year-old took to social media to comment on the court artist’s drawing of him.

“Never mind anything else,” Brand wrote on X. “This court sketch is an injustice.”

Brand was charged last month with more rape and sexual assault offenses involving two women, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. These charges are separate from those filed in April 2025, which relate to alleged conduct involving four women. 

Brand has pleaded not guilty to the earlier charges. Court documents cited by the BBC state that the latest allegations relate to incidents said to have taken place in London in 2009. 

A plea hearing for the two new charges is scheduled for February 17, according to Deadline.

The Metropolitan Police said the investigation remains ongoing and encouraged anyone with information to come forward. 

Sexual assault allegations against Brand first became public in September 2023 following a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches.
