Kate Hudson reveals who gave her the 'movie musical bug'
Kate Hudson called 'Song Sung Blue' ‘full-circle’ moment
Kate Hudson is opening up about when her love for musicals began.
At the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Saturday, the 46-year-old actress was honored with the Icon Award for her performance in the new musical movie Song Sung Blue.
During her acceptance speech, Kate revealed that director Rob Marshall first installed the love for movie musicals.
“You are directly responsible for giving me the movie musical bug,” she said while receiving the accolade.
The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star recalled working with Rob on the 2009 film Nine, in which she played fashion journalist Stephanie Necrophorus.
She went on to say, “And it started with six weeks of rehearsals, three giant fans for dramatic hair, which was a dream come true. And a 15-lb. crystal costume, which I danced in for two days and lost about 5 lbs.”
“It was a lot of performance, full performance takes, and it made me think that I wish I could do this forever,” she noted.
While speaking about her latest film, Kate gushed, "Yes, Song Sung Blue is a very different kind of sparkle, but somehow this feels very full-circle. So thank you, and I love you."
Kate also said working with Marshall has been “one of the great joys” of her career.
