18 more dengue fever cases emerge in Karachi

KARACHI: As many as 20 more dengue viral fever cases have been reported from Sindh province in a week, out of which 18 were detected from Karachi, taking the patients toll to 841 in the province since 1st January 2016.

According to the weekly report issued by Prevention and Control Program for Dengue in Sindh, at least 20 new dengue fever cases surfaced in Sindh province from 22 to 28 July 2016, out of which 18 were reported from Karachi, one each from Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad.

Out of total 18 new dengue fever cases were detected in Karachi last week, four were reported from District Central, two from District South, three from District West, seven from District East, one from District each Korangi and District Malir.

In 2016, a total 841 dengue fever cases had been reported in Sindh province since 1st January 2016, out of which 778 were detected from Karachi, 15 from Hyderabad, five each from Sukkur & Ghotki, four from Tando Muhammad Khan, Mirpurkhas & Larkana, three each from Dadu, Tharparkar,Khairpur & Shaheed Benazirbad , two each from Badin, Thatta, Jamshoro,Umer Kot, Sanghar, Naushero Feroz and Shikarpur.

One death was reported from dengue fever from Shaheed Benazirabad this year so far.
