Sara Sampaio adopts new dog after beloved pup goes missing
Sara Sampaio details meeting Kodi through the Labelle Foundation
Sara Sampaio has adopted a new dog, Kodi, seven months after her dog, Mongo, disappeared.
The actress and model, 34, announced the adoption on Thursday via Instagram, sharing photos of the small black pup in a harness, snacking on treats, and curled up in her arms.
Sampaio said bringing home another dog once felt impossible. “After Mongo went missing, the thought of ever getting a new dog felt wrong and scary,” she wrote.
“I’m still grieving him and still hoping one day he gets back to me.” Losing Mongo without closure, she added, was “the most pain I’ve ever felt in my life.”
She described her dogs as the only beings who have ever loved her with the same intensity she gives.
She then detailed meeting Kodi through the Labelle Foundation. “I fell in love right away, and I knew he was mine,” she wrote, calling the adoption “Mongo’s way of coming back.”
She said Kodi reminds her of Mongo in both look and personality and has already begun to bring her “joy and peace.”
Sampaio also shared a side-by-side photo of Kodi and Mongo on her Story, captioned, “Would’ve been besties.”
Mongo has been missing since April 29, despite a reward and widespread posts seeking help.
