Nicole Kidman learns key lesson from her daughters
Nicole Kidman shares the lesson during an interview with a fellow actress
Nicole Kidman has two daughters, whom she says taught her a lesson she is currently trying to adopt.
It is about how to shrug off criticism, especially in the age of social media.
The conversation was sparked by a view Ariana Grande shared with the actress during a chat with Interview Magazine.
"I’m so grateful to be able to do what I love. I just wasn’t expecting certain pieces of it," says the Wicked star, adding that she had to make a "big adjustment" in her life after she became famous at a young age.
"Well, you’re very young, and then suddenly you’re put into this fishbowl and everything is dissected. It starts to get very, very difficult."
"And then you overthink it, and then you get scared, and then you get hurt, and then you go, 'Now I don’t want to go out. I don’t want to venture into this world.' I get it," she shares.
On this, Nicole, who is with her in the interview, adds that there is "a constant push-pull" that "exists for everyone." However, she notes that younger generations tend to deal differently than they do.
"I’m raising teenage girls right now, and it’s fascinating. I think they have an armor that we didn’t get," the Oscar winner says.
She continues, "Or that I certainly didn’t get, because there was no social media. The very, very young now have already gone, 'We know exactly how to handle this,'" adding, "They don’t take a lot of things personally. They shrug it off."
It is worth noting that Nicole has four kids, including two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
