Hilary Duff addresses fans' theories linking her new song to Leonardo DiCaprio
Hilary Duff addresses the speculations surrounding her comeback single 'Mature'
Hilary Duff has finally addressed the speculations surrounding her comeback single Mature.
The 38-year-old actress-singer dropped the new song earlier this month following a decade-long hiatus from the music industry.
In the lyrics, Hilary expresses her regret over dating an older man in the past, leading some fans to believe the song is about Leonardo DiCaprio.
Talking about her new song, Hilary told Vogue that “The song is about reflecting on your past and coming to terms with the choices you’ve made, but without being too hard on yourself."
She further said, “It is definitely about a brief experience that I had in my—a long, long time ago [laughs]. But it is not totally autobiographical. I took a few artistic liberties just to make the song work structurally, but the gist is the gist,"
“I was looking back on this relationship and thinking about whether this guy had a habit of dating younger women or whether I was ‘special,' continued the How I Met Your Father alum.
She added, "The whole experience was super therapeutic to write about, but being so vulnerable through your music can be really scary.”
For those unversed, Leonardo is well known to seemingly only date younger women. The 51-year-old actor has been dating 27-year-old Italian model Vittoria Ceretti since August 2023.
Before that, he was in a relationship with Camila Morrone.
