Kendrick Lamar’s untitled comedy faces another release date shift

The release of Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming comedy with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone has been delayed once more, according to confirmation from The Hollywood Reporter.

The film was originally set for July 4 before being moved to March 20, 2026. Now, the date has been pushed back again, with no new theatrical release announced.

Park County and pgLang acknowledged the latest shift, saying, “It’s true — we’re moving (again)… We’re working hard at finishing the movie.”

The untitled Paramount project is written by Vernon Chatman, with Lamar and Dave Free producing through pgLang, and Parker and Stone producing for Park County.

The team has been balancing development with Lamar’s co-headlining tour with SZA and the ongoing production demands of South Park, now in its 28th season.

Paramount’s Brian Robbins previously teased the film’s potential during last year’s CinemaCon, calling it “one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read.” He also noted the studio would be heading into production that summer with Parker and Stone.

The creators’ past projects include Team America: World Police and the Tony-winning The Book of Mormon, while Lamar continues a standout run of his own. 

He led the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, earned five Grammys this year, and recently secured nine additional nominations for the 2026 awards.
