Royal Family comes in spotlight as ‘SNL’ takes brutal dig at Andrew

Saturday Night Live once again poked fun at the former Duke of York during its hit Weekend Update segment with host Colin Jost and Michael Che.

The former Prince Andrew has been stripped off of all of his royal honours and titles. Buckingham Palace had announced two weeks ago that the 65-year-old will now just be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and he is also served a notice to move out of his long-term residence at the Royal Lodge.

Last week, US President Donald Trump had reacted to the news as he was on board Air Force One speaking to reporters.

Andrew shared a close friendship with paedophile Jeffery Epstein, and his questionable activities with the financier led to his disgrace. Trump himself was famously friends with Epstein and holds high praise for the royal family.

“Trump reacted to the news that Prince Andrew lost the title of Prince over ties to Jeffrey Epstein, saying he feels badly for the royal family,” Colin said during the Weekend Update.

He delivered the punchline stating, “Trump even sent Prince Andrew a card to cheer him up” and a mannequin sketch appears and with a message atop it that read: Hang in there!

This is not the first time Andrew was dragged was laughs at the weekly comedy sketch show. In the previous episode, Michael brutally roasted Andrew as news of King Charles’s bombshell news dropped.

“Prince Andrew has been stripped of his royal title of ‘Prince’ due to his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein,” he quipped. “And Andrew says he can only become a prince again if he gets a kiss from a young princess.”

The jokes have been a reference to the allegations that late Virginia Giuffre made against Andrew, claiming that he sexually assaulted her on three separate occasion when she was 17. The King’s shamed brother continues to deny the claims “vigorously”.
