Pete Davidson makes surprise return to SNL: Watch
Pete Davidson pokes fun at Zohran Mamdani haters and takes a jab at 'SNL' creator Lorne Michaels
Pete Davidson is not done with Saturday Night Live just yet as he stormed back to Studio 8H.
The 31-year old actor and comedian came back to the comedy special series with a bang, complete with his signature sarcasm.
In the Saturday November 8, episode The Bupkis star made a surprise return in a sprawling Weekend Update segment touching several hot topics, including New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s recent victory and his own controversial performance at the Riyadh Comedy Festival.
"If Lorne Michaels has taught us anything, it’s that you never, ever give up. Even if everyone says the time has come and Tina Fey is ready to take over,” the Dog Man voal star said, leading to passionate applause from the crowd at the expense of his former boss, longtime SNL creator Lorne Michaels.
Colin Jost introduced the soon to be father to discuss a ferry they purchased together, intended as an upscale entertainment venue, which was recently described in The New York Times as a "money-losing fiasco."
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine guest star wove the ferry debacle into his Saudi Arabia jokes, noting the financial strain, "I can’t spend $5 on a paywall when I got a kid on the way," while expressing excitement about becoming a father with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt.
The King of the Staten Island actor also took aim at critics of Mamdani’s election, poking fun at Staten Island, the only borough out of five to vote against the new mayor.
"I have a message for everyone who did not vote for our new mayor. Hey, Staten islanders! Did you promise to move out of New York if Mamdani won but have too many warrants in New Jersey and not enough guns for Florida?" he exclaimed.
The latest appearance marked Davidson’s first return to SNL since he last hosted an episode in October 2023, after previously spending eight seasons as a regular cast member from 2014 to 2022.
