The Oscar-winning star won Best Supporting Actress for 'Shakespeare in Love'
Dame Judi Dench shares heartbreaking health update as she reveals she has lost her sight.
The legendary actress, 90, has opened up about the daily challenges she faces with her health, revealing she has now lost her vision completely.
The Oscar-winning star, who won Best Supporting Actress for Shakespeare in Love, first spoke publicly about her age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in 2012.
Earlier this year, she admitted she 'can't leave home alone' due to the progressive condition.
Speaking to crowds at Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds, where she serves as a patron, Dame Judi said:
'When I go to the theatre, I can't see. 'Hopeless.'
Despite her bindless, she's been keeping up with the latest on Celebrity Traitors and hearing updates about her friend Celia Imrie through word of mouth.
The actress also revealed that reading scripts has become 'impossible,' highlighting the impact of her worsening eyesight on her work.
On Trinny Woodall's Fearless podcast, Dame Judi explained that she always has someone accompany her when leaving the house: 'Somebody will always be with me' when she leaves the house.
She continued: 'I have to (have someone) now because I can't see.'
The Golden Eye actress, known for her iconic role as M on nine James Bond films, admitted she was 'no good at that at all' when attending events alone in the past.
