Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ star reflects on fandoms and show’s reboot in a candid interview
‘Sarah Michelle Gellar has recently made rare comment on reboots.
The actress, who will reprise her role as Buffy Summers on a new TV series, gives her honest take on the show reboot.
“I've been fortunate enough that I've had work that people remember from all different times, and as an actor, you just hope you do work that not just stands the test of time and that people still remember, but they still enjoy,” said the 48-year-old in a new interview with USA Today.
The Cruel Intentions actress noted that the art that’s “created” is still meaningful and “still has “emotional resonance to the fans,” that's all we could ever ask for the sequel show.
“It means that your work resonates. And that people are still wanting more from a performance you made that many years ago,” explained Sarah.
In a separate interview with IGN, the Scooby-Doo actress reflects on fandoms which she believed for “Buffy still resonates today”.
“Because it’s not just about the show, but about the community that’s grown around it,” she told the outlet.
Sarah reasoned that the heart of Buffy was “always about found family that sense of belonging and being loved for who you are and that’s more important now than ever”.
“That’s what makes this new chapter so meaningful, it’s not just revisiting the past but honouring the show’s original DNA,” she declared.
Before concluding, Sarah added, “The fact that people still carry such love for the show after all these years is incredibly special.”
