Djokovic dances to KPop Demon Hunters ‘Soda Pop’ after US Open quarterfinal win
Novak Djokovic dedicated the viral dance to his daughter to celebrate her eighth birthday
Novak Djokovic delivered more than a stunning tennis performance during his US Open quarterfinal victory.
On Tuesday, September 2, the Serbian tennis player faced American tennis player Taylor Fritz, securing 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.
After defeating Fritz, the 24-time Grand Slam champion recreated a viral dance performance dedicated to his daughter’s eighth birthday.
The fans were also delighted to see the tennis star performing a choreographed routine to “Soda Pop” by K-Pop Demon Hunters, a fictional group from the Netflix animated hit.
Djokovic’s daughter, Tara, turned eight on September 2 but was not present there.
While explaining in an on-court interview, he stated that the choreography was her idea, “It’s my daughter’s birthday so this is a big present for her. Actually the dance in the end, she’s going to rate me tomorrow how the dance was because she told me how to dance. It’s K-Pop Demon Hunters and ‘Soda Pop’ is the name of the song.”
He also admitted that her daughter introduced him to the global K-pop sensation, “Obviously it’s a big thing globally for teenagers and for kids, but I didn’t know about it before my daughter told me a few months ago. So we’re at home doing different choreographies and this is one of them, so hopefully I’ll make her smile when she wakes up tomorrow morning.”
