Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift may be 'affecting' his performance: Reports

As the Kansas City Chiefs fell short of achieving a rare Super Bowl three-peat, all eyes are turning toward Travis Kelce, the team's All-Pro tight end. 

Kelce's recent decline in performance has sparked criticism, with some suggesting that his high-profile relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift may be a contributing factor.

Eric Mangini, former head coach of the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns, shared his candid opinion that Kelce's off-field distractions might be catching up with him. 

"Between the relationship, his TV projects, the podcast with his brother, and a shortened offseason, that's a lot to juggle for any player, let alone someone in their mid-30s," Mangini explained in a recent interview.

Kelce, 35, posted some of the lowest numbers of his career during the 2024 season. While still an elite talent, he didn't produce at the levels fans have come to expect. 

The former coach's concerns reflect a sentiment quietly growing among some analysts: that Kelce's commitment to football may be diluted by the demands of celebrity life. 

"He looks like a guy who's trying to reset, maybe even prepare for the end," Mangini continued.

Despite the criticism, Kelce and Swift appear to be thriving off the field. Sources close to the couple say they've been enjoying a slower-paced offseason, spending time in New York, Nashville, and taking low-key getaways. 

According to one insider, "Taylor and Travis are finally able to enjoy each other's company without cameras constantly following them. It's helped their bond grow even stronger."

Kelce remains a key part of the Chiefs' offense, and the team will need him firing on all cylinders if they're to make another championship run. With training camp looming, the pressure is on to prove that he can still dominate - regardless of his personal life.
