Country music mourns the loss of Tommy Cash, a 'lifelong' musician and brother of the legendary Johnny Cash
Lifelong country musician Tommy Cash has died at the age of 84 after serving most of his time in the music industry.
Johnny Cash’s brother, who collaborated with legends, including Hank Williams Jr. over his decades-long career, passed away on Friday, September 13.
His death was announced in an Instagram post by the Johnny Cash Museum on Saturday, September 14, alongside a caption that read, "We are saddened to announce that the world lost a bright light last evening with the passing of Tommy Cash.”
Museum’s founder Bill Miller expressed grief over Cash’s passing, claiming that he had “lost a very, very dear friend last evening. I knew him for over 50 years.”
He continued in the statement, "Tommy Cash was a loyal supporter of the Johnny Cash Museum and a very beloved member of our extended family as well as a highly respected member of the music industry.”
On professional front, the country musician signed his first record deal in 1965 with Musicor after collaborating with country greats early on in his music career.
However, he later went onto strike a deal with United Artists Records, introducing the world to I Didn’t Walk the Line and his brother’s iconic I Walk the Line.
