Prince Harry and Prince William may have their last attempt for reconciliation as they are to come face to face with one another.
The estranged siblings, who haven’t been on speaking terms with one another for years, are expected to attend the sombre occasion to support their family, following the death of their uncle, Robert Fellowes, per former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond.
“I imagine Harry will want to be at his uncle’s funeral,” Bond told OK! Magazine. “But his presence would cause all sorts of awkwardness if William attends too.”
She added, “It would be nice to think, though, that two grown-up men could at least be in the same space, as they were at the coronation, albeit briefly, without ruining an occasion of great sadness and solemnity.”
As for reconciliation, Bond noted that “nothing seems likely to thaw the frost” between William and Harry.
She highlighted that the funeral of Duke of Edinburgh or the late Queen Elizabeth didn’t make a difference and neither “once in a lifetime events” caused them to reconcile.
However, she shared that the brothers would likely keep things civil if they were to attend the sombre event.
“Both boys have remained close to their maternal aunts, and they all came together to unveil the statue to Diana three years ago,” she said. “The brothers were already at war, but appeared civil…perhaps for the sake of their aunts.”
Lord Robert Fellowes was husband of Princess Diana’s eldest sister and also Queen Elizabeth II’s most important advisers.
