Ryan Reynolds overflows with emotions in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ tribute
Ryan Reynolds admitted the success of the franchise ‘feels like it’s happening to someone else’
Ryan Reynolds is taking a beat to take in the immense success of his new film, Deadpool & Wolverine.
Taking to his Instagram on Saturday, August 3, the 47-year-old actor paid tribute to the blockbuster film, which is the latest instalment in the Deadpool franchise released in July 2024.
“Nearly a decade of getting to do this. 10 years ago, we would have gleefully taken these BONKERS 2nd weekend numbers as our opening weekend,” Reynolds began, reflecting on the franchise’s growth.
He continued, “The way Deadpool & Wolverine has captured the moment is hard to process. Feels like it’s happening to someone else. Either way, making these movies has been more fun than anyone has a right to have.”
Reynolds then expressed his appreciation to the team behind the film, including co-writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, and directors Tim Miller and David Leitch. He also thanked 20th Century Fox, Kevin Feige, and George Dewey’s production team. Special mentions were given to director Shawn Levy and co-star Hugh Jackman.
“This has always been a game of inches and the relentlessness we hit this movie with… is something I’ll never forget,” Reynolds shared.
He concluded with a heartfelt message to fans: “Thank you to every single person who showed up for this film. Thank you to everyone seeing it multiple times… What a damn thrill this has been.”
