KARACHI: K-Electric has issued a statement on Wednesday categorically denying claims being made of an 18-hour outage at JPMC. While putting the fact on ground that K Electric and JPMC are both good organizations serving the people of Karachi under a challenging environment. The teams at both organizations continue to work closely to ensure smooth supply of electricity at this strategic installation.
According to the statement the recent reports fail to take into account the on-ground situation at the hospital which was suffering from internal electricity faults of their own. It must also be noted that the duration that supply was affected did not last more than 2 hours in total and remaining faults were .
The KE spokesperson has shared that the hospital faced a disruption in supply that was intermittent but did not last 18 hours. The KE Teams responded on priority by back-feeding JPMC, as has always been the case for strategic installations. The cause of disruption was eventually traced back to internal faults, where some internal construction is taking place . The hospital was only facing partial outages in some wards on Tuesday morning implying that back end supply by K- Electric was normal.
“As per our information no operation was postponed, let alone a hundred of these in the period reported. Even though the fault was internal, our teams were available to facilitate the JPMC going above and beyond our duty and jurisdiction to ensure speedy restoration,” added the KE spokesperson.
We continue to work closely with the JPMC team to ensure smooth supply, the statement concluded.
