Prince William, King Charles to unite at Buckingham Palace for historic meeting
England have never won the European Football Championship
Prince William and King Charles are set for a historic meeting with the England squad.
The Prince of Wales will attend the Euro 2024 final on Sunday in his capacity as President of the Football Association. England will face Spain in this highly anticipated match as Gareth Southgate aims to become the first manager to secure a Euro title for the Three Lions.
Spain has won the tournament twice in the 21st century, achieving back-to-back victories in 2008 and 2012. This matchup marks the first meeting between England and Spain in a major men's tournament since 1996.
If England emerges victorious, the squad will have a momentous meeting with King Charles and Prince William.
Plans are also in place for an open-top bus parade through the streets of London on Tuesday, which will culminate at Buckingham Palace, where Southgate and his players will be honored at a reception with the two royals.
Throughout the tournament, the Prince of Wales has been a strong supporter of the England team. He flew to Germany to witness Gareth Southgate’s squad defeat Switzerland on penalties following a tense 1-1 draw earlier this month.
He was seen with players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bukayo Saka after the match and also attended England’s second Euro 2024 game against Denmark last month.
Although he missed England's final group stage match against Slovenia due to supporting King Charles during the State Visit of the Emperor and Empress of Japan, he was not present for England's dramatic 2-1 victory over Slovakia in extra time.
However, he will be there on Sunday to cheer on England in the final.
