Royal family braces for 'major impact' as Princess Anne steps back from duties
Princess Anne cancelled a series of royal engagements after sustaining head injury
Royal family is looking at yet another crisis as Princess Anne embarks on a leave of absence for indefinite period.
King Charles’ 73-year-old sister has been hospitalized after sustaining minor injuries and a concussion due to being struck by a horse on head.
Writing for the Daily Mail, royal author Arthur Parashar reflected on the “major impact” the royals will have on their image, owing to Anne’s honour as the “hardest working member” of the royal family.
The incident led to cancelation of a number of engagements for the Princess Royal, including a royal visit to Canada later this week.
Buckingham Palace has been in touch with the Canadian government to lay out plans on how her proposed engagements may be adapted in her absence.
Besides the overseas visit, Anne was due to take nine engagements across the UK, all of which have now been postponed for unforeseen future.
As per a statement from Buckingham Palace, the King has been kept closely informed as he “joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the princess for a speedy recovery.”
Meanwhile, Charles gears to welcome Emperor and Empress of Japan for a state visit in the UK Ceremonial Welcome on Horse Guards Parade later today.
