Sofia Vergara doesn’t seem to think herself of a good actress, as she revealed that she “never went to an acting class”.
The 51-year-old acclaimed global appreciation and fanbase for her role as Gloria Pritchett on the sitcom Modern Family, the same which earned her four Emmy nominations.
However, the actress disregarded her acting skills in a new interview with Hollywood Reporter, alongside Jennifer Aniston, Jodie Foster, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Brie Larson and Anna Sawai, saying that she was “almost playing myself” on the show and does not in fact “know anything about acting.”
She added that because of this reason, although her Colombian accent “is beautiful, but it’s like, I cannot be a scientist, I cannot be an astronaut.”
“I feel very awkward here because this is my favourite group of actresses, and I realise I don’t know anything about acting,” Sofia admitted.
Jennifer, who is also known for her role as Rachel on the famous sitcom Friends for ten years, disagreed, “What? No!”
“Not in a bad way, it’s just a reality,” Sofia justified. “I did 11 years on Modern Family, but it was almost playing myself in a way. I never went to an acting class in my life.”
She added, “And when I decide to do something different, it’s hard because this accent is beautiful, but it’s like, I cannot be a scientist, I cannot be an astronaut.”
