Formula One: Lando Norris makes history after Miami Grand Prix win
British F1 racer defeats world champion Max Verstappen
For the first time ever, British Formula One racer, Lando Norris, has won the F1 Miami Grand Prix, defeating world champion Max Verstappen on Sunday, The Guardian reported.
Norris finally won the title in his 110th career race for McLaren by beating Verstappen with just a seven seconds lead. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished third, with a gap of 10 seconds.
The Red Bull racer while congratulating Norris, said: "You win, you lose. Today was a bit tricky with the medium tyres. When I heard the lap times the McLarens were doing I thought, yeah that’s pretty quick, Lando was flying. I’m very happy for Lando, it’s been a long time coming and it’s not going to be his last victory. He definitely deserves it today."
This season, Verstappen won four Grand Prix races in six rounds. He was victorious in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Japan and China, which was the previous round. Ferrari's Carlos Sainz won in Australia in March.
With a 136-point lead, Verstappen is at the top of the 2024 Driver Standings list, followed by his teammate Sergio Perez who has 101 points.
Leclarc from Monaca, collected 98 points and came third in the list.
Round 7 of the Formula 1 competition will be held in Emilia Romagna, Italy on May 19.
