A new report released by Statcounter revealed that the market share of Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 nosedived significantly, taking the number below 26% whereas users continued to favour the older version — Windows 10 enjoyed over 70% user base, reported Tom’s Hardware Thursday.
The current figures are estimated since February of this year with a drop of 0.97 points.
Windows 11 was released in 2021 but people are still sticking to the 2015-released Windows 10 and its last version is only compatible until October 14, 2025.
Microsoft will need to accept that it is unlikely to see increased market share due to enhancements from Windows 11 24H2 powered by artificial intelligence system.
The users of Windows 11 also reported complaints but were not paid heed.
Interestingly, the obsolete Windows 7 still has a market share more than Windows 8.0 and 8.1. The users were not excited enough to opt for the new version, which led the tech behemoth to make some omissions in Windows 8.1.
However, people went from Windows XP to 7 and similarly, some migrated to Windows 10 in the same vain.
Despite the US-based tech giant’s efforts to force people to jump toward the latest operating system, people are less motivated to opt for Windows 11 as there is not much in the latest version that could improve the user experience.
