KARACHI: All-rounder Aamer Jamal has achieved multiple feats with his six-fer against Australia in the Sydney Test on Friday.
Aamer cleared Australia’s innings post-tea on the third day of the final Test to help Pakistan gain a 14-run lead over the hosts with his bowling figures of six for 69.
This six-wicket haul has taken Aamer's total tally of wickets in this series to 18 — the most by any Pakistani cricketer in his debut series.
The all-rounder had also scored 82 in Pakistan’s first innings to help his team post 313 on board.
There were 25 all-rounders from visiting teams before Aamer Jamal, who scored a fifty in an innings and took a five-wicket haul in the innings of the same Test.
Among them, seven had a fifty and six-fer. Aamer is the only visiting player to have scored in the 80s and taken six wickets in an innings of the same Test in Australia.
The last Pakistani to achieve a five-fer and score a fifty in a Test in Australia was Wasim Akram who had scores of 52 and 123 and bowling figures of 5/100.
Aamer Jamal’s series wickets tally of 18 is also the most by a Pakistani fast bowler after his first three Tests, surpassing Shabbir Ahmed who had 17 wickets in his first three Tests.
Aamer is five wickets behind spinner Abrar Ahmed who holds the record for most wickets by a Pakistani after the first three Tests of his career — 23.
He is also the first Pakistani to score 100+ runs and take 18 wickets in a series vs Australia.
