Michelle Obama, Amal Clooney, Melinda French Gates join hands to end child marriages

Michelle Obama, Amal Clooney, and Melinda French Gates have visited Malawi as a result of a cooperative initiative that the Girls Opportunity Alliance, Gates Foundation, and Clooney Foundation for Justice started in 2022, a project that aims to assist women and girls in their pursuit of education and to put a stop to child marriages.

They listen to tales and look for methods to empower girls who are trying to overcome obstacles in order to fulfill their aspirations while collaborating with grassroots leaders and changemakers. Recently, the three of them met with young ladies through the @AGEAfrica programme. This programme offers mentorship and scholarships to girls, reported Hola.

“This week, @MelindaFrenchGates, Amal Clooney, and I are in Malawi as part of an effort we launched last year between the @GirlsOpportunityAlliance, @GatesFoundation, and @ClooneyFoundationforJustice to help end child marriage and to support women and girls pursuing their education. We’re meeting with grassroots leaders and changemakers to hear their stories and find ways to support girls who are working to overcome barriers to pursue their dreams,” Obama shared on social media.

“We met with young women who are part of @AGEAfrica — a programme supported by the Girls Opportunity Alliance — that provides girls with scholarships, mentorship, and afterschool programming. I saw so much of myself in these bright young women, and I was just so moved by their determination and resilience,” the former First Lady added.

Obama asserts that ensuring girls complete their education is a powerful strategy for preventing child marriage and enabling them to realise their full potential. "We hope you'll follow along as we share more stories from our trip over the next few days," she said.

In August, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky and Michelle Obama, together with her husband, Barack Obama, took the lead on The Voyager Scholarship. 

The three created this reward to let college students travel and experience new things while still having a positive influence. "I'm thrilled to welcome our newest batch of Voyagers, 

Barack, and @BChesky! We are excited to accompany these changemakers on their public service adventures as they make a positive impact on their communities," Michelle posted on X, formerly Twitter.
