Cara Delevingne expresses that discovering sobriety has been invaluable
Cara Delevingne candidly discusses the worth of her sobriety and its positive impact on her life
Supermodel Cara Delevingne is speaking openly about her journey to sobriety and the positive impact it has had on her life. In an exclusive interview for ELLE UK's September issue, the 30-year-old shared that giving up alcohol has been incredibly rewarding.
Delevingne expressed when asked about her decision to embrace sobriety. "It hasn't [been easy], but there have never been moments when I'm like, 'This isn't worth it.'"
She emphasized that every moment of her journey has been meaningful and that she has no intentions of going back. She described feeling more stable and calmer, highlighting the positive effects of her choice.
The supermodel also revealed that coming clean about her struggles earlier in the year was a liberating experience. For a long time, she felt like she was concealing a lot from her admirers. However, now she feels a newfound sense of freedom, being able to fully embrace her authentic self.
During an interview for Vogue's April cover, Delevingne discussed her dedication to sobriety and the circumstances that led her to seek help and enter a 12-step program last fall. She recounted a pivotal moment when paparazzi photos captured her at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles in July 2022. The images served as a harsh wake-up call, prompting her to confront her reality and make a change.
Describing the photos as "heartbreaking," Delevingne admitted that she was in a "bad place" at the time, and her struggles were exacerbated by the impact of the pandemic and reaching her 30th birthday milestone in August. It was a turning point that led her to seek professional support and embark on her sobriety journey.
Recently, the supermodel revealed a significant milestone in her sobriety journey. She proudly shared that she attended her first sober Glastonbury festival in 15 years, a testament to her commitment to living a healthier and more fulfilling life.
