'Zombieland star cast eager to return for third sequel', says director

Ruben Fleischer, the director of Zombieland, has addressed the chances of a new sequel.

The first horror comedy was made in 2009 with it predecessor coming after ten years in 2019.

At present, the director is busy promoting his new film Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. during the promotion, he was asked about his plans on making a third installment of Zombieland.

Ruben revealed that when they wrapped up the last film, everyone was keen on returning for another movie, but they all saw it being made after 10 years.

In an interview with Deadline, the 51-year-old filmmaker added, “I’m hoping that we’ll do a Zombieland 3 in 2029…”

“We’re starting to talk about that because [the first] one was 2009, and then we did the second one in 2019, and we kind of left that one all saying, ‘We’ll see you in 10 years’ That’s coming up now, and so we’re starting to figure that out, so I’m hoping that’ll come together.”

The popular franchise stars Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, Emma Stone as Wichita, Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee and Abigail Breslin as Little Rock.

Both the movies released previously were a commercial hit grossing around $102.4 million and $126 million worldwide.

Fleischer has once again reunited Eisenberg and Harrelson in Now You See Me 3 that also features Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco. The film has turned out to be number one globally.
