Keira Knightley has recently recalled her mother’s wise words on juggling a career and kids as a working mother.
The Pride & Prejudice actress shares that she learns to accept the chaos of being a working mother during an appearance on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast.
“She's a proper second-wave feminist. 'You just get on with it. You just do it. That's what you do,” says the 40-year-old.
Keira shares her mom’s advice, saying, “You have the babies and you take them and that's what you do, you know.’”
Atonement actress, who shares two daughters with her husband, musician James Righton, confessed that this is a “reality” and mothers need to make it work.
“It does look different for absolutely everybody, and it's always a mess. And I think this is what I've come to just accept, is that it's always messy,” explains Keira.
Bend it like Beckham actress adds that she’s fortunate to have a strong support system that includes her husband and her mother.
Keira further says that her husband, who works from home, helps keep things running in a house.
“It sort of works well from that point of view, but it's always a mess,” states the Woman in Cabin 10 actress.
However, Keira points out that things have become easier as her kids are slightly older.
“And definitely just from being able to, if there's a problem, they can call me, even though my daughters don't have phones, school staff can always get in touch,” explains the Love Actually actress.
Meanwhile, Keira opens up that her next project will be based in London, which was a deliberate choice.
“Their life is set… They’re at school. They’ve got their friends. They’ve got their stuff. We’ve got our support network around us because we’re at home,” she concludes.
