Rachel Zegler has recently received valuable advice from legendary actress Helen Mirren about fame as a young actress.
The actress, who is currently starring in Andrew Lloyd Webber's EVITA in the West End, revealed she got “a wake-up call” while speaking to Helen during her 76th birthday at sushi restaurant Liu in Atlanta.
At the time, Rachel mentioned that she and Helen were busy filming 2023 superhero caper Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Addressing her struggles in the industry, the iconic actress talked about the importance of fame at a very young age.
“She was like, ‘When I was 20, I would have killed to just be doing what you're doing. I was surviving meal to meal doing theatre at that time,’” recalled the 24-year-old in an interview with Glamour magazine for their 2025 Woman of the Year cover.
Rachel pointed out that she “doesn’t often feel the need for a wake-up call, but a reminder is really, really important”.
The actress, who rose to fame with her role in West Side Story at the age of 17, added, “It's a needed perspective when you find success at a young age to know that it could be very, very different.”
Meanwhile, Rachel also expressed her gratitude to be a part of Glamour magazine cover.
“I am extremely honoured to be one of your women of the year,” she captioned her Instagram post.
In the end, the Y2K actress also thanked “Helen Mirren” for “being my guiding light and loving me through it all. this interview was just so special”.
