Madelaine Petsch opens up about social media backlash ahead of ‘The Strangers’ release

Madelaine Petsch has reframed her mindset regarding negative reviews of her work as she prepares for the sequel of The Strangers.

The 31-year-old actress admitted that comments regarding her works are unavoidable in the age of social media but she actively tries to be unbothered by them.

"You kind of can’t avoid them on social media. It’s going to show up on my 'For You' page on TikTok, or my producer’s going to send it to me. It is what it is," Petsch told People Magazine in her new interview.

The Riverdale actress, who has taken on the role of executive producer for the relaunch of the franchise, continued, "At the end of the day, what’s most important is that I’m proud of my performance. That’s literally the only thing I can control."

If anything, even negative reviews inspire her because Petsch noted, “the best films are polarising. That’s what makes film and art so cool."

The Strangers: Chapter 2 follows Petsch’s character Maya from where she ended up at the end of the original movie, and she shared excitement to get back in the role.

"I really believe that every character I play has a piece of me in them and then they leave a piece of themselves in me that I can take with me through my life," said the actress.
