Emma Watson addresses rift with J.K Rowling over difference of opinions

Emma Watson shared an update about where things stand between her and J.K. Rowling after theHarry Potter author made some controversial remarks.

The actress appeared on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast where she spoke about her beliefs and how that affects her relationship with Rowling.

“I really don’t believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, mean that I can’t and don’t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with,” Watson said.

“I will never believe that one negates the other and that my experience of that person, I don’t get to keep and cherish.”

She expressed that it was her “deepest wish” that people who do not agree with her would still be able to love her in return.

Tensions between Watson and Rowling began after the author attracted widespread criticism in recent years for making 'anti-transgender' comments and supporting others with transphobic views.

The Beauty and the Beast star added, “I hope I can keep loving people who I don’t necessarily share the same opinion with.”

She further said,“I think the thing I’m most upset about is that a conversation was never made possible.”

"I just believe that no one is disposable," she continued. "And everyone as far as possible, whatever the conversation is, should and can be treated with, at the very least, dignity and respect."

Watson went on to praise Rowling for her "kindness and words of encouragement and steadfastness," toward her in the past.

Speaking about her iconic role as Hermione Granger, Watson reflected on the rare opportunity that "barely exists in the history of English literature."

She said that "there is just no world in which I could ever cancel her out for, or cancel that out, for anything. It has to remain true — it is true."

The actress concluded the topic by saying that while her "job feels like to just hold all of it, but the bigger thing is just what she's done will never be taken away from me."

Watson along with Daniel Radcliffe (titular hero) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) starred in Harry Potter film series from 2001 to 2011.
