Henry Cavill suffers injury during 'Highlander' remake

Henry Cavill, the star of the upcoming Highlander reboot, has sustained an injury during his training while preparing for the film.

The 42-year-old English actor's injury has forced Amazon MGM Studios to delay production on the movie, with shooting now set to begin in 2026.

The new Highlander film boasts an impressive cast, including Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and Max Zhang.

The movie is directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Michael Finch, both of whom have collaborated on the action-packed John Wick franchise.

Cavill had previously teased the new Highlander at CinemaCon in 2024, promising that he and his fellow filmmakers were "going deep into these characters."

He also joked about his sword work in the film, saying, "If you thought you'd seen me do sword work before, you haven't seen anything yet." These comments reference his work on the fantasy-action series The Witcher.

Highlander, a tale of immortal warriors battling across time, has been a beloved franchise since its release in 1986.

The original film starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, and it spawned several sequels and a TV series. The new reboot is expected to bring a fresh take to the franchise while staying true to its roots.

Cavill has several other projects lined up, including Enola Holmes 3, Rawson Marshall Thurber's Voltron, and Guy Ritchie's In the Grey.

His injury may impact his schedule for these projects, but fans are eagerly awaiting his upcoming performances.
