Dwayne Johnson gets honest about impact of ‘Moana 2’ on global audiences

Dwayne Johnson has recently made shocking revelation about the impact of Moana 2 on global audiences.

The wrestler-turned-actor shared how his character Maui and musical elements in Moana 2 had become popular among children globally at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 8.

“There's not a place I go around the world where I don't have families come to me and say, 'Oh my God, I'm so sick of hearing your song. My kids play it every day,’” said the 53-year-old while speaking to the audience at the city's Royal Alexandra theatre.

However, hecherished the love of his young fans mainly because “one of the many cool parts of doing what we do, is every once in a while, you get a movie like that that can really pierce the cultural conversation and resonate with families across international borders” explained the Red Notice actor.

Dwayne, who sang ‘You're Welcome,’ in Moana, and ‘Can I Get a Chee Hoo?’ in the sequel, lauded Disney’s Moana franchise for enabling him to showcase his own identity through his character.

“It's my culture. I'm half Black, I'm half Samoan,” continued the Jungle Cruise actor.

Nevertheless, The Rock added, “Moana is a global embrace of Polynesian culture.”

Meanwhile, Dwayne is making headlines for his performance in upcoming movie, The Smashing Machine, which will release in theatres on October 3.
