Drew Barrymore has recently shared her honest take on winning her first award as a seven-year-old in a new video.
The Never Been Kissed actress reposted a clip of herself watching her famous Oscar’s acceptance speech after winning Young Artist Award for Best Young Supporting Actress for E.T. on the official The Drew Barrymore Show Instagram account.
Interestingly, Drew recalled that this was “one of the last awards” she won too which is “hilarious”.
The Charlie’s Angels actress remembered about prepping for the speech and she felt like she did a “decent job”.
“I am clearly rehearsed and polished, that’s great because the one other time I won an award for Gray Gardens in the Golden Globes, I forgot everything,” said the 50-year-old.
At the time, Drew never thought she would win this award. Therefore, she was happy to watch the speech because “it’s coherent”.
However, the Ever After actress didn’t understand why the audience were laughing in the clip.
But now looking back she realised that this was her first award and she was seven and that’s “what they were laughing at”.
Drew noted that beautiful moments like these have led her to continue with her acting journey.
“I cannot believe that I still get to work in a field that means so much to me… that is the reward like longevity,” she concluded.
Meanwhile, fans showered their love in the comment section, with one wrote, “The compassion you show your inner child is just lovely.”
Another added,“You are a beautiful human, with a good heart.”
