Jenna Ortega is stepping back into her dark shoes as Wednesday Addams, and this time, the stakes are even higher.

The second season of Wednesday finds the sharp-tongued teen returning to Nevermore Academy, but her school year quickly takes a grim turn.

In the newly released trailer on July 9, Wednesday has a haunting vision, her roommate Enid, played by Emma Myers, meets a tragic end.

“Enid dies,” she tells her mother Morticia Addams, portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones. “And it’s all my fault.”

Despite her usual cool and dark demeanor, Wednesday is determined to change what she sees coming.

“Secrets are the bedrock of the Addams family,” she says. “The sooner I get answers, the sooner I can save Enid—or die trying.”

Ortega, who’s earned praise for her take on the beloved character, previously opened up about what fans can expect this season.

Back in March, she teased that some of the footage in season two is among her personal favorites. Working with executive producer Tim Burton once again brought an edge to the series.

“Everything is very graphic,” she told E! News. “It’s very exciting and inspiring to work with someone like that who gets you excited about the shots that you're doing every day.”

Playing a single character for months can be demanding, and Ortega was candid about the challenges of staying mentally engaged on a long shoot.

“Sometimes it's a crawl to the finish line,” she admitted, “but he always keeps it exciting and it's hard to get tired of a character like Wednesday.”

The new season will roll out in two parts on Netflix, with the first part premiering August 6 and the second following on September 3.
