Matthew McConaughey and Nic Pizzolatto surprised by joining forces again for another gripping mystery tale.
The Interstellar star, previously, worked with Pizzolatto in the first season of True Detective alongside Woody Harrelson in 2014.
The Oscar winner is set to star in Mike Hammer adaptation, based on iconic private investigator of the same name.
Its novel is set have sold 250 million copies globally and is often recognised as the most popular American mystery/thriller series of all time.
The protagonist of the novel is also credited with inspiring numerous other characters including Dirty Harry, Jack Reacher and James Bond, who Ian Fleming famously referred to as "the British answer to Mike Hammer."
The film will be featured by Skydance productions, which acquired the rights to Mickey Spillane’s and Max Allan Collins’ Mike Hammer franchise with plans to develop and produce the bestselling book series into a feature film.
David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce, while, Collins will executive produce with Jane Spillane serving as co-producer. Carin Sage will oversee the project for Skydance.
Mc Conaughey recently returned to the screen after a six-year hiatus with The Rivals of Amziah King, and will next star alongside America Ferrera in the Apple TV+ disaster thriller The Lost Bus.
