Chris Evans got candid about hanging up his shield and suit for Marvel in 2019 after his exit in Avengers: Endgame.

Evans, played Captain America across eight films, ending his run when the character aged after traveling back in time to return the infinity stones.

He then decided to stay in the past with his true love, Peggy Carter, and passed the Captain America shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson.

During a conversation with ScreenRant, the Materialists star was asked if he is still in contact with his former MCU cast mates since he is not part of Avengers: Doomsday.

"Yeah I talk to them all the time. It’s where Pedro [Pascal] is right now," he told the outlet.

"I mean, it’s sad to be away," Evans added. "It’s sad to not be back with the band."

The Red One actor continued, "I’m sure they’re doing something incredible, and I’m sure it’s going to be that much harder when it comes out, and you feel like you weren’t invited to the party."

While Evans is staying behind, his co-stars, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), are returning for the highly anticipated film.

However, Downey Jr will make his comeback as the titular villain Doctor Doom.

In addition to Hemsworth and Downey Jr, Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Mackie (Captain America) and few other familiar faces are returning to the universe.

Avengers: Doomsday, which originally scheduled to premiere on May 1, 2026, is set to release on December 18, 2026. Its sequel Avengers: Secret Wars has also been pushed to December 17, 2027.
