‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ teaser trailer released: watch

Downton Abbey, after 14 years of its successful run, has finally came to its conclusion.

The historic drama, which stared late Maggie Smith, has released the third and final film, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, created by Julian Fellows.

The production studio also dropped its first real look in a teaser trailer.

The trailer lays out the plot of the film, "the Crawley family and its staff arrive at 1930, looking to the future while saying goodbye to the past."

Given the Crawley family, it also includes the family’s famed Grantham Estate, the castle that had been home to the family since the show’s launch in 2011.

In the trailer at one point the head of the clan Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) pays respect to the mansion, by giving it a pat and a kiss, apparently as the family’s good bye to it.

Simon Curtis returns to direct the final instalment after helming its second film, A New Era.

The familiar cast also returns for The Grand Finale, which features, Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Joanne Elizabeth McGovern and Sophie McShera.

New to the franchise cast are Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Froushan.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale will be released on September 12.
