Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell-Horner didn’t not attend Spice Girl Mel B’s 50th birthday celebration on May 31.
The former X Factor judge went all way out for her big bash as she joined her partner Rory McPhee and her children Angel, 18, and Phoenix, 26, in Leeds for the celebratory evening.
It is pertinent to mention that Mel was joined by her other Spice Girls bandmates including Mel C and Emma Bunton.
Spilling out the real reason behind Victoria and Geri’s absence from the party over the weekend, one source revealed to The Sun that the fashion designer had “a work commitment” she could not leave it.
On the other hand, Geri had not given any reason for turning down the invite.
Another reason is Mel B and Geri had an awkward relationship, with a confrontation said to have occurred at Victoria’s 50th last year.
Despite having posed for a smiley picture with the fashion designer, Mel C and Emma, the outlet claimed that Mel B and Geri were feeling tense.
Before reunion, Mel B shared in a previous interview that Geri lied about her age for years.
An insider mentioned that Mel B “tried to smooth things over with Geri at the party but it didn't go as planned”.
“She was laughing it all off but Geri didn't seem interested in hearing what she had to say and wandered off,” remarked a source at the time.
Meanwhile the source added, “Mel B and Geri have always had a tricky relationship but this has got very messy now and nobody has been able to smooth things over between them so it's all off again.”
