Miley Cyrus has recently spoken up about her father Billy Ray Cyrus’ romance with Elizabeth Hurley.
The Flowers hit-maker discussed her relationship with Billy after finding out his shocking romance with Elizabeth in a new interview with The New York Times.
“I think timing is everything. As I’ve gotten older, I’m respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents,” reflected the 32-year-old.
Miley revealed that her mom really loved her dad for her whole life, noting that it’s really tough to be married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it.
The Last Song actress shared that she “took on some of my mom’s hurt as my own, because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult”.
“I owned a lot of her pain,” remarked the songstress.
However, Miley pointed out that now her mother is so much in love with her stepfather (Dominic Purcell) and her real father she sees him happy with his current girlfriend, therefore she “can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing”.
“I’m being an adult about it,” added the Something Beautiful musician.
Elsewhere in the interview, Miley revealed how she dealt with her family drama playing out in the public eye.
“The thing I like about the new way that the world works is that everything is so fast,” stated the singer.
Miley admitted she’s “gotten so used to it that I’m like, ‘If this is the symptom — that sometimes we deal with these embarrassing or difficult public opinions — then that’s something I’m willing to take to have the life that we have’”.
