Chris Hemsworth has sparked debate online with a controversial video clip that has left Marvel fans worried about the possible end of Thor in Avengers: Doomsday.

The Thor actor, who garnered recognition for his portrayal of the God of Thunder in 2011 film, recently gave fans an emotional update about his character’s future in the upcoming Marvel project.

Taking to his YouTube channel, the 41-year-old star shared a compilation video that began with his first audition through to 2022’s Love and Thunder, titled cryptically, “Thank You! The Legacy of Thor”.

Additionally, the Extraction actor posted a heartfelt message on both his Instagram story and in the YouTube description box.

Hemsworth penned, “Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. For the last 15 years I’ve held Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, but what made it truly special… was sharing it with all of you. Your passion, your cheers, and your love for his character have meant everything to me. Thank you for making my journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe unforgettable.. Next up, Doomsday…”

Fans couldn’t hold back their emotions after seeing the update, flooding social media with concern and speculation.

One fan wrote on Reddit, “He got that Doomsday script and read where he is offed by Doom didn’t he?”

Another penned, “This read to me like Hemsworth is retiring from Thor after Doomsday…”

A third commented, “He dead.”

Meanwhile, a user on X tweeted, “Sounds like he’s telling everyone goodbye.”

For the unversed, Avengers: Doomsday is expected to hit theatres on December 18, 2026.
