Sarah Jessica Parker gets candid about raising children in public eye

Sarah Jessica Parker has recently revealed how she’s raising her children to be successful in life.

During an appearance on The E! News Sitdown on May 28, the Sex and the City star believed she wanted her children to be “educated” in ways that would be “fulfilling” to them.

While offering advice to her eldest 22-year-old son, James Wilkie, Sarah said, “I don’t think that there is one way to be an educated person or to be equipped to be an adult and try to fashion a life for yourself after what would be considered ‘finishing college’—let’s say 22 years old.”

The And Just Like That actress shared that parents want their children to be “pursuing things that are exciting and challenging and hard and gratifying”.

However, Sarah noted that parents also wanted their children to be able to ultimately take care of themselves, support themselves — emotionally, financially.

So, that these children “can be in the world and be a reliable person to themselves and to other people,” explained the 60-year-old.

Sarah added, “So we talk about work like that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the actress also opened up that it's important for her children feel like they have choices in life.

“I'm curious to see what they all do, but I hope that they feel… I hope all young people feel to some degree, that they have choices and that there isn't one way,” she concluded.
